Clarence E. Wagher, 73, of Toulon, passed away at 8:10 a.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Clarence was born on March 2, 1953 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Paul and Patricia (Meyers) Wagher. He is survived by his mother, Patricia “Pat” Shanks of Knoxville, his daughters, Sarrah Staker of Williamsfield and Jodi (Jason) Klein of Kewanee, a son, Jerod (Kathy) Wagher of Toulon; his grandchildren, Ella Staker of Williamsfield and Jayce, Jayden and Jaelyn Klein of Kewanee, four step-siblings, Roger (Tanya) Shanks of Missouri, Denis Sheperd of Knoxville, Linda Tate of Florida and Vickie Butler of Florida and a sister-in-law, Julie Wagher of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wagher Sr., his stepfather, Jack Shanks, five brothers, Paul Wagher Jr., Jerry Wagher, Danny Wagher, Jerry Wagher and twin brother, John Wagher, a stepsister, Jackie Diedrich and a son-in-law, Travis Staker.
Clarence graduated from Toulon High School in 1972 and had worked for Caterpillar in Mossville, where he later retired. He was a member of the UAW of Peoria. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He had many nicknames and titles throughout his life; Stubby (known by his Cat co-workers), Uncle Bear, Uncle Lumpy and Papo.
Honoring Clarence’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at Toulon Cemetery. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
