Cleo F. Szafranko

LEBANON, TN – Cleo F. Szafranko, 93, of Lebanon, TN, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the home of her daughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14 at St. John Catholic Church in Galva. Celebrant will be Fr. John Burns. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements. She was born December 29, 1925 in Gold Township, Bureau County, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Viola (Donnely) Reider. She married Edward W. Szafranko on November 18, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1975. Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Jack) Anderson of Lebanon, TN, her brother, Thomas (Barbara) Rieder of Aurora and two grandchildren, Tyler Jo Anderson (Molly Caron) and Shade Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lowell.

Cleo graduated from Annawan-Alba High School in 1943. In her teens and young adulthood, she worked for Dr. Graham DDS and Johnson Lumber. Her and her husband Eddy later formed V&S Welding Supply and she worked there until she sold it in 1998. She had been a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and their Altar and Rosary Societies. She had also been a member of the Kewanee Business Women. She was a “fixer upper” and a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed working.
