Connie R. Thuline

GALVA – Connie R. Thuline, 78, of Galva, died at 8:50 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastors Katie Gallagher and Randy Swanson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion or to the family for a memorial to be established.

She was born May 12, 1945 in Rushville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Olive (Lawler) Wheelhouse. She married Lowell K. Thuline on September 22, 1963 in Galva. Survivors include her husband of Galva, her four children; Tami (Jeff) Svoboda of Galva, Keith (Stacey) Thuline of Paducah, KY, Michael Thuline of Galva and Jeanie (Geoffrey) Horack of Bradford, nine grandchildren; Josh (Christy) Thuline, Rebekah Thuline, Erica (Nick) Grier, Brittany (Jacob) Gillan, Matthew, Andrew and Elizabeth Horack, Amberly Thuline and Aiden DeFrance, granddaughter-in-law, Alison Lee and three great grandchildren; Alyana, Bo and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Patrick Lee and a stillborn granddaughter, JayLynn Nichole.

Connie graduated from Galva High School in 1963. She worked for the State of Illinois at the Department of Human Services in Galesburg and Kewanee and for the Rock Island Social Security Office. She had also worked for Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva and the Galva American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed listening to country music, crocheting and traveling.

Her family was extremely important to her and she thoroughly enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
