DeLores M. Nordstrom Obituary

ANNAWAN - DeLores M. (Hicks) Nordstrom, 72, of Annawan, IL, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on April 3, 2021 at 3:45 a.m. after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Dee was born October 30, 1948 in Kewanee, the daughter of Carl and Violet (Hall) Hicks. DeLores graduated from Kewanee High School in 1966.

DeLores married Michael B. Nordstrom on June 1, 1969 in Bishop Hill, IL. DeLores worked at GTE as a telephone operator, to support the family as Michael finished college. In 1971, she started the job she would excel in for her entire life and that is when she became a mother for the first time. She was a wonderful, caring and devoted mother, housewife and business assistant to her husband on their farm and family business Hatzer & Nordstrom Equipment Co. in Annawan. The role she probably cherished the most and was most proud of was being a grandmother to her 9 grandchildren beginning in 1998. She was able to watch them and care for all of them as they grew up. She attended all of their athletic, music and other activities as their #1 supporter. She was affectionately called Grandma D by all of her grandchildren and many other friends and relatives as well. She was a kind and gentle woman, beloved by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her immediate and extended family, as well as volunteering at her church and in the community.

She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, Michael of Annawan, her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amy Nordstrom of Toluca, IL, her daughter and son in law, Kimberly and Chris Goodley of Annawan, and her son and daughter in law, Matthew and Annetta Nordstrom of Annawan. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; Alexander, Linnea, Bryce and Noah Nordstrom of Toluca. Michaela, Olivia and Cole Goodley of Annawan and Anna and Emma Nordstrom of Annawan. Other survivors are her brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Jeanette Hicks of Florida, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kelly Hicks of Kewanee, sister-in-law, Lynn Dunn of Andover, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Dennis Paschedag of Georgia, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Lisa Nordstrom of Bishop Hill, IL and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Chris Milojevich of Plainfield, IL. DeDe also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, cousins, an aunt, Ada Creech and friends that she loved dearly like Marilyn Verdick of Annawan, Pat Nyert of Florida and her sisters-in-law and nieces. DeLores was preceded in death and welcomed to the wonderful kingdom of heaven by her parents, Carl and Violet, her brother, Fred, her sister, Betty, an infant niece, her nephew, Rusty and many other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Revs. Dan Wright and Rolando Renteria officiating.
