DeWayne A. Jannie

KEWANEE – DeWayne A. Jannie, 61, of Kewanee, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at his home.

Cremation will be accorded and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to his family. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born December 3, 1961 in Rochelle, IL, the son of William S. Jannie and Patricia S. Jannie Baker. He married Carol Wright on February 18, 1989 in Neponset and they recently celebrated 34 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his sister, Barbara Jannie of Neponset and two brothers, Steve Jannie of Neponset and Mike Jannie of Hooppole. He is also survived by a half-sister and two half-brothers and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Beverly “Bud” Baker and his brother, Tick Jannie.

DeWayne had worked in various factories in the area and had been in charge of maintenance at a local trailer court. He enjoyed doing yard work and mowing and was very meticulous about how his lawns looked. He also enjoyed playing pool, carving out of balsa wood, and playing with his dogs.
