KEWANEE – Diane J. Dziengel, 84, of Kewanee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 5:09 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born November 29, 1938 in Kewanee, the daughter of Marvin and Olive (Davis) Greenhagen. She married Leo A. Dziengel, the love of her life on August 28, 1965 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Kewanee. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, her three children; Robert Dziengel and Ernest (Lorraine) Andris, both of Kewanee and Jeff (Betty) Andris of Crestview, FL, a brother, Rick (Luann) Hodgett of Hortonville, WI, two sisters, Lana (Ken) Leasure of Kewanee and Josie (Tim) Ouart of Sheffield, five grandchildren; Stephanie Shields, Morgan Dziengel and Autumn, Eric and Aaron Andris, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, Olive Hodgett, a brother, Gary Greenhagen and a sister, Rita Greenhagen.
Diane graduated from Kewanee High School in 1956. She was homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. She had been a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was currently a member of the Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee.
She was an avid golfer and golfed in the Tuesday night women’s league at Baker Park where she had been a member of the golf committee and boosters for the past 20 years. She had won several golf championship flights over the years and was inducted into the Baker Park Golf Hall of Fame in 2009.
Per her request cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
