MENDOTA- Diane M. Yarger, 82, of Mendota, died at 11:25 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Allure of Mendota.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Stephen McGough officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to Transitions Hospice.
She was born March 6, 1941 in Geneseo, the daughter of Sam and Margaret Hurt. She married Howard L. Yarger on April 8, 1961 in Geneseo. Survivors include her husband, her three sons; Brian Yarger of Plainfield, Lonny (Michele) Yarger of Moline, and Jeffrey Yarger of Sycamore, one brother, Sam (Shirley) Hurt of Colona, seven grandchildren; Rachel, Sarah, Ryan, Emily, Lisa, Autum and Kyrie and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Duane and her sister, Patricia.
Diane attended high school in Geneseo graduating in 1959. She had worked as a telephone operator for the Geneseo Phone Company as well as working for the Geneseo Sale Barn. She also had cleaned for the Methodist church and at a nursing home both in East Moline. Diane loved artwork and painting pictures, as well as collecting angel figurines, decorating for Christmas and baking birthday cakes. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. But most of all, Diane loved spending time with her family.
