Donald L. Carey

KEWANEE – Donald L. Carey, 79, of Kewanee, died at 2:42 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born February 9, 1945, in Sterling, IL, the son of Frank and Anna Mae (Barker) Carey. He married Linda Jasper on September 18, 2010, in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, two brothers, George Carey of Rock Falls and Bryon Carey of Tulsa, OK, two sisters, Patricia Carey of Morton and Vaugnetta Kearns of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Carey.

Donald served his country in U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Martin Gutzmer and Minister Lou Guthrie officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
