Donald D. Dowell Jr.

KEWANEE – Donald D. Dowell Jr., 75, of Kewanee, died at 2:07 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at his home.

Cremation will be accorded and graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 14 at Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be made in his name for a memorial to be established. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born October 3, 1947 in Kewanee, the son of Donald and Phyllis (Workheiser) Dowell Sr.  He married the love of his life, Blanca E. “Stella” Interial on February 10, 1973 in Galva and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2023. Survivors include his son, Alexander (Erin) Dowell of Orion, IL, a brother, Daniel (Delaura) Dowell of House Springs, MO, three sisters; Donna Fuller of Florida, Sandra (Joseph) Kimbrough of Galesburg and Patti Estes of Kewanee and three grandchildren; Hannah, Hayley and Alexander II. He was also preceded in death by his father, Donald D. Dowell Sr., his mother, Phyllis Camey and four children in infancy.

Donald attended Kewanee High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 30 years. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed traveling out west and to Mexico with his wife. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and time spent with family.
