Donald D. Wilson

KEWANEE – Donald D. “Don” Wilson, 89, of Kewanee, died at 10:45 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 30 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Chet Travis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.

He was born May 9, 1931 in Van Wert, IA, the son of Delbert and Ruby (Woods) Wilson. He married Evelyn E. Farrell on December 8, 1950 in Galva. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his son, Steve (Michele) Wilson of Bloomington, IL, a brother, George (Marilyn) Wilson of Galva, a sister, Helen Glasgo of Aurora, IL, three grandchildren; Erik (Helen) Wilson of Westerville, OH and Neil (Lindsay) Wilson and Bryan (Adrienne) Wilson, both of Bloomington, IL and five great grandchildren; Anneliese, Blake, Kaiden, Kira and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bonnie.

Don graduated from Galva High School in 1949. He had worked as a Ford Automotive Mechanic, as an Assembly Supervisor at Hyster’s, had operated Shell Oil in Galva along with his brother, George and worked for Kewanee Auto Supply until his retirement. He enjoyed NASCAR and especially enjoyed being with his family.
