KEWANEE – Donald Dwayne Negley, 96, of Kewanee, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Kewanee Care Home.
Cremation will be accorded and graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee with Rev. Randy Hroziencik officiating. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Kewanee.
He was born July 19, 1926 in Joshua Township, Fulton County, IL, the son of Howard and Ethel (Clausen) Negley. He married June Bengston on November 6, 1992. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, three sons; Steve (Vicky) Negley of Galva, John (Carol) Negley of Hamilton, MI and Randy (Liz) Negley of Loami, IL, five daughters; Terry (Dave) Krans of La Fayette, IL, Debbie (Steve) Jeffers of Riverton, IL, Kari Chayer (Martin Gibson) of Kewanee, Vicki (Wayne) Gaught of Chattanooga, TN and Amy Chayer of Kewanee, his siter, Jane (Gene) Webster of Kewanee, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Burk, Ralph, Gene and Gordon.
Dwayne graduated from Canton High School. He had farmed in the area and had owned and operated Negley’s Coin Wash in Kewanee. In his early years he was co-owner of Settles Garage. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kewanee where he was a Deacon and had also been a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and RV camping in the mountains with his wife.
