GALVA – Donna M. Anderson, 88, of Galva, died at 6:05 p.m., March 10, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on December 7, 1936 in Galesburg, the daughter of Chester and Ruby (Teil) Downward. She married Lloyd Anderson on March 18, 1956. Survivors include her husband of Galva, her son, Mark (Lisa) Anderson of Altoona, IA, four sisters; Dorothy McMeen of Milan, Grace Bates of Williamsfield, Alice Clark of Galesburg and Cheryl (Bob) Yerkey of Alexis, and a daughter-in-law. Mary Jane Anderson. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Marisa Fall (Jess Fall), Jake Johnson, Steven Anderson, Tyler Simoneaux, and Jacob Simoneaux and four great grandchildren; Avalynn, Paisley, Gage, and Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steven Anderson, three brothers; Clarence “Bud”, Gary and Randy and a sister, Mary Brittingham.
Donna graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955. In her early years she had worked for W.T. Grant and worked as a waitress at The Red Oak in Bishop Hill for 23 years. She was a member of the Bishop Hill Community United Methodist Church and its Pairs and Spares Sunday School class and its Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau and the VASA Lodge in Bishop Hill. She enjoyed cooking and flower gardening, but most of all she loved her family and cherished the time spent together.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Rev. Rebecca Gearhart and Rev. Dan Wright officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 21 at the funeral home. The burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bishop Hill Community United Methodist Church or to the Galva American Legion.
