Donna J. Bergren

KEWANEE – Donna J. Bergren, 84, of Kewanee, died at 7:20 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Cremation has been accorded and private services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 27, 1938 in Kewanee, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Homer) Brasel. She married Thomas E. Bergren on June 29, 1957 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2015. Survivors include her five children, Cathy (Brian) Boberg of Cambridge, Jerry Bergren of Kewanee, Laurie Radford of Kewanee, Michael Bergren of Kansas City, MO and Gary Bergren of Kewanee, four siblings; Bruce Brasel of Fulton, IL, Dale (Ann) Ludvigsen of Camanche, IA, Judy Smith of St. Marys, GA and Patty Goldsmith of Geneseo, her seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Jerry) Reichwein of Cordova, IL, Jess (Kerri) Bergren of Milwaukee, WI, Ryan Bergren and his fiancé Lauren of Green Bay, WI, Jordan Boberg of Cambridge, Kara DeClercq of Kewanee, Alex Bergren of Kansas City, MO and Jonathan (Emily) Bergren of Kansas City, MO, six great grandchildren, Matthew Hass, Rylee Reichwein and Koeyn, Emmorie and Caesyn DeClercq and Blair Bergren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, Mary Ellen and Jimmie and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bergren.

Donna graduated from Wethersfield High School. She worked as a seamstress at Boss Manufacturing and Excelled Sheepskin and Leather and also was a homemaker and a hairdresser for a short time. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee and the Red Hat Society. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed camping, traveling and going to the casino.
