GALVA – Dora Joan Price, 91, a resident of Courtyard Estates of Galva, formerly of Toulon and Harrison, AR, died at 10:57 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2023 at the estates.
Cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. Private inurnment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, AR. Rux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 11, 1932 in Kewanee, the daughter of Fred W. and Katherine L. (Benedict) Briggs. She married Harold Gredell in 1953 and they later divorced. She then married Willard Price on May 15, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2018. Survivors include one sister, Joyce (the late Burl) White of Homer, LA and her family. She is also survived by five stepchildren, including Madelyn (Bob) Green of Sycamore, IL, their families and other numerous relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Donald Gredell, two brothers, Malcolm (the late Mary) Briggs of Sun City, CA and Marvin Briggs of Placentia, CA and her sister, Jeanne (the late Bill) Craig of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Joan graduated from Toulon Township High School in 1950 and attended Carthage College in Carthage, IL. She also attended Central Airline School in Kansas City, MO and was employed as a TWA reservations service agent. After moving to Harrison, AR she was also employed for 28 years by Regions Bank, formerly The Security Bank, retiring in 1991.
She was active with the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison, AR and the First Presbyterian Church of Kewanee where she sang in the choir. She was also active in the Arkansas Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, served on the Board of Directors and was secretary of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at the Toulon Food Pantry and Kewanee Hospital.
