GALVA - Doris L. Boehle, 90, of Galva, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Al Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Princeville Cemetery. Memorials be made to the Honor Flight or to the First Baptist Church of Toulon.
She was born on January 30, 1936, in Akron Township near Princeville, the daughter of Ervin and Margaret (Hohenbery) Streitmatter. She married Gerald Harlin, who preceded her in death. She later married Eugene Boehle, and he also preceded her in death. Other family members who are no longer living include her parents and two brothers, Maurice Streitmatter and Lester Streitmatter. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Lynne) Harlin of Cedar, MN, and Dawn Mossage of Galva; five grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Nicholas and Taylor; and four great grandchildren, Charles, Benjamin, Mia and Leo. She also is survived by two brothers, Larry Streitmatter of Edmond, OK, and Rodger Streitmatter of Washington, DC.
Doris grew up in Princeville and graduated from Princeville High School, where she played the clarinet in the band, received the Daughters of the American Revolution Award for Good Citizenship, and was named an honor student her senior year. She went on to graduate from Illinois State University and was a primary school teacher at Sparland Grade School for many years.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Toulon and was active in the Senior Citizens of Kewanee. She enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. Anyone who met Doris soon discovered that she was a person of great kindness and enormous concern for others. She found great joy in going to restaurants and studying every detail of the menu and had a particular fancy for chocolate. But her first love was her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
