Doris I. Groy

KEWANEE – Doris I. Groy, 89, of Kewanee, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her home.

She was born May 22, 1936 in Kewanee, the daughter of Theodore and Katherine (Fesler) Loughe. She married Ernest E. Groy Sr. on December 28, 1954 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1997. Survivors include her five children; Larry Groy Sr., Christina Downs, Kathy Groy, Ernest Groy Jr. and Thomas Groy, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Doris worked extremely hard her entire life, retiring at the age of 83, including a 50+ year career as a meat cutter.

Private graveside services will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice, Henry County Senior Citizens Center or to Big Tom’s Community Cats. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
