KEWANEE - Dorothy J. Hill, 87, Kewanee, died at 3:45 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Kewanee Care Home.
Cremation will be accorded and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 14 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The Very Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Senior Citizens Center in Kewanee.
She was born March 28, 1931 in Matteson, IL, the daughter of Emil and May (Roberts) Kangas. She married Harold W. Hill on June 18, 1949 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1989. She is survived by two sons, Kevin Hill of Olympia, WA and Mark (Karyl) Hill of Bloomington, IL, two daughters, Mary (Conrad) Hubner of Manito, IL and LuAnn (Paul) Schaecher of Kewanee, a daughter-in-law, Lynette (Miller) Hill of Shelton, WA, ten grandchildren; Shana (Sid) Redding, Rachel (Benjamin) Rabey, Kraig, Kara and Kody Hill, Rita and Robert Trentadue, Stefanie (Dustin) Hampton, Amanda (Larry) Schreiber and Nicholas Schaecher, nine great grandchildren; Krista, Becker, Sullivan, Grey, Arlyn, Elena, Allie, Owen and Hadliegh, a brother, Paul (Jenny) Kangas and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lance Hill, great grandson, Grant Rabey, three brothers, George, Merle and Robert, two sisters, Marjorie Kopp and Elizabeth Stuart, sisters-in-law; Louise Kangas, Lois Tilson and Elaine Souba and her special friends, Marjorie Lamb and Viola Washburn.
Dorothy graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago. She had worked in the kitchen at Henry’s in Kewanee, at the coffee shop at A-Z in the Henry County Senior Citizen Center and as night matron at the Whiting Home. She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Catholic and its Altar & Rosary Society and was currently a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles and she especially enjoyed people.
