CAMBRIDGE - Douglass E. “Doug” Yarger, 76, of rural Cambridge, died peacefully at 1:07 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor John Reside officiating. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday April 8 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus, 808 needs, where his son Andrew resides or to the First Christian Church.
He was born on February 22, 1950 in Kewanee, the son of Eugene and Gladys (McCormack) Yarger. He married Sherry L. Ford on September 4, 1971 in Geneseo. She survives as well as their children, Donovan (Tonya) Yarger of Miner, IL, Andrew Yarger of Kewanee, Jennifer Yarger and Julie Yarger, both of Kewanee and Stephen Yarger of Cambridge, six grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Kylea, Kyler, Aubrey, Ellen and Ashlin, three brothers, Roger (Theresa) Yarger of Cambridge, Todd (Lynn) Yarger of Kewanee and Rick (Lisa) Yarger of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.
Doug graduated from Atkinson High School in 1968 and then from Black Hawk East. His passion was farming and as a farmer he had raised over the years, hogs, cattle and goats and farmed corn, beans and hay. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed going to the Sale Barn and spending time with his family.
