Obituary

KEWANEE – Doyle Tex Stoner Sr., 74, of Kewanee, died at 11:45 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Animal Shelter.

He was born September 22, 1948 in Kewanee, the son of Oscar and Thelma (Cowell) Stoner. Survivors include his two children, Doyle T. (Glenda) Stoner Jr. of Kewanee and Tammy (John) Eilers of Galena, two brothers, Danny and Tony Stoner, both of Kewanee, two sisters, Patricia Bennett of Silvis and Della Gustaitis of Monroe, IA and his five grandchildren; Alex and Rebecca Eilers and Amanda, Tyler and D’Andrea Stoner. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.

Doyle was a life-long resident of Kewanee. He had worked as welder at Kewanee Boiler and was a self-employed martial arts instructor having taught classes for 40 years. His passion was martial arts and he loved watching and teaching his skill to his students. He also enjoyed playing poker.
