GALESBURG – Elaine Kendall, 81, of Galesburg, died at 10:32 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born February 12, 1943 in Galva, the daughter of Robert and Lucy (Clifford) Kenney. She married Bill Kendall on May 31, 1981 in Galva. Survivors include her husband of Galesburg, her three sons; Joel (Julie) Dykeman of Galva, Dan Kendall of Atlanta, GA and Kris Kendall, of Navarre, FL, a sister, Jaci of Etowah, TN, her six grandchildren; Amanda, Cassondra, Derick, Isabella, Kami and Owen, nine great grandchildren; Destiney (Caleb), Alicia, Sierra, Kaylee, Kaedyn, Kamryn, Abreah, Ellis and Kaesen, a great-great grandchild, Ivory and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dave Kenney and two sisters, Katherine and Betty.
Elaine attended Galva schools. She worked as a proof operator for various banks in the area until her retirement. She had also been the secretary for the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg and the treasurer for the former Allen Park Baptist Church and the Road to Freedom Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an avid baseball fan cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening and canning the harvest from her garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Rev. Randy Koch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Road to Freedom Baptist Church.
