KEWANEE - Eleanore Mae Cruse 95, of Kewanee, died Sunday, October 17, 2021 at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, IL.
Visitation will be held at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee on Friday, October 22 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee with Rev. Kevin Drane officiating.
Eleanore was born June 7, 1926 in Savanna, IL. She was the daughter of Lawrence and LaVonne Catton. She married Ray Cruse Sr. in December of 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1997. She was educated in Kewanee and was a 1944 graduate of Kewanee High School.
She was employed by Spiegel for 25 years, at Kewanee Hospital for 10 years and at the Kewanee Public Library for 10 years up to her retirement at the age of 84.
Eleanore was a member of Pilot International and past president. She was also a member of Kewanee Business and Professional Women, the League of Women Voters and the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee.
Survivors include her sons, Ray (Teri) Cruse of Kewanee and Roger (Mary) Cruse of Springfield. She has five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was an avid reader and sports fan, following Chicago sports and Wethersfield sports where her sons and grandsons participated. Eleanore also loved gardening and was talented at flower arranging.
