KEWANEE - Elizabeth "Betty" L. Stauffer, 95, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:24 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Chaplain Lisa officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Henry County Humane Society.
She was born May 10, 1926 in Rock Island, the daughter of Francis and Bertha (Hofer) Sellers. She married Verlin Duane Stauffer on February 4, 1951 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2010. Survivors include her son, Scott (De Ette) Stauffer of Kewanee, her two daughters, Patricia (Jim) Hughes of Blissfield, MI and Lori Ross of St. Petersburg, FL, six grandchildren; Justin (Michaela) Ross, Collin (Megan) Hughes, Nichole (Emmanuel) Williamson, Sara (Ryan) Mower and Caleb and Colton Stauffer, eight great grandchildren with one on the way and her cousin, Mary Price. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Francis and Charles and a sister, Arline.
Betty graduated from Cambridge High School in 1944 and later took Realtor and Broker classes. She worked alongside her husband at the Verlin D. Stauffer Real Estate Agency which began in 1946 and they later added insurance products to their business in 1950. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee and she enjoyed music and singing at church and for weddings and funerals.
