Elizabeth J. "Betty" Ouart

KEWANEE - Elizabeth J. “Betty” Ouart, 84, of Kewanee, passed away peacefully at 2:50 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Allure of Geneseo.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee with Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu officiating. A public visitation will be held from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Community Wellness Center in Sheffield to support social emotional health services.

Betty was born on October 19, 1936 in Kewanee, the daughter of Phillip and Helen (Greenhagen) Verbout. She married George Ouart on June 16, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kewanee. He survives as do her children, Tim (Josie) Ouart of Sheffield, Angie (Glen) Stanton of Cincinnati, OH, Jennie (Craig) Schroeder of Toulon, Bob Ouart of Lewisville, TX and Bonnie (Steve) Spahn of Kewanee, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Ann Norton of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, John “Jack”, Phyllis, Darlene, Bill and Jim and a daughter-in-law, Gina Ouart.

She had graduated from Neponset High School in 1954. She had worked at Kmart and in the janitorial department for the Kewanee School District. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish and in earlier years, St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and doing word puzzles.  She was proudest of having raised five children and she enjoyed taking care of them, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
