KEWANEE - Elsie Mae Tellier, 88, of Kewanee, died at 11:59 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2025 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday February 22 at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Kewanee with Fr. John Cramer officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. She was born on February 28, 1936, in Kewanee, the daughter of William and Mildred (Ames) Henry. She married Merriel L. Tellier on February 14, 1953 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters-in-law, Diane Daily Tellier and Jill Roginski Tellier and two sisters, Shirley Emery and Dorothy Roginski. She is survived by four sons, Steve Tellier of Kewanee, Bob (and his fiancée Brenda Rebout) of Annawan, Jay (Judy) Tellier of Peoria and Mark Tellier of Kewanee, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren.
Elsie attended Kewanee Schools, and she had worked as a meat wrapper at Eagles, Piggly Wiggly and Jack’s Meat Market. She also owned and operated her own catering business for several years. After retiring from catering, demand for her recipes were so great that she decided to write a cookbook. She published “Home Cooking with Elsie” in 1999. She was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church and enjoyed baking, cooking and flower and vegetable gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
