Emilie M. Ricknell

KEWANEE – Emilie M. Ricknell, 91, of Kewanee, died at 7:25 a.m., Thursday, November 3,2022 at Allure of Geneseo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Rev. Burnell Eckardt will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of their great grandson. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 6, 1931 in Kewanee, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Ouart) Dolieslager. She married John B. Ricknell on July 1, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kewanee and they recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, a son, David Ricknell of Kewanee, three daughters: Lynda (Larry) VanDyke of Prophetstown, Jennifer Fleming and her special friend, Terry Barker of Kewanee and Simone (Rick) Nelson of Eagle, WI, her sister, Judith Moore of Kewanee, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Beth” Dolieslager of Kewanee, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, LaVerne and William and a sister, MaryAnn.

Emilie graduated from Kewanee High school in 1949. She was an assembly worker for General Electric for 25 years. She was a longtime member St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had been church secretary, active in the Altar’s Guild and past president of Women for Christ. Following her retirement, she enjoyed painting whimsical wood products and selling them at craft shows. She also enjoyed writing poetry for her family.
