Etta Mae (Howell) Thompson, 88, of Kewanee, formerly of East St. Louis, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Royal Oaks Care Center. She was born June 17, 1935 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Horace Howell and Georgetta (Hawkins) Howell.
There are no services scheduled at this time and Rux Funeral Home is assisting the family.
She was married to Herman Thompson for 21 years. Survivors include Maurice Thompson of Kewanee, Herman Thompson, Jr. of Texas, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her brother, Will Davis of Kewanee, and sister, Erma Jean Harris of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Alma Howell, two sons, Mark and Ricky Thompson, siblings: Ollie Howell, Sr., Horace Howell, Jr., Curt Davis, James Davis, Julia Bronson, Otelia Jordan, Louise Conner, Finis Howell, and Rosalee Pugh.
Etta loved her dog, Lilly and cared for her as long as she could. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was especially close to her son Maurice, who spent many years caring for and visiting her in the nursing facility.
She will be always loved and remembered by her family, friends and those who cared for her in her later years. Thank you for caring.
