Evajean C. Salisbury, 84, of Kewanee, died at 12:41 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 at Arcadia Care at Kewanee.
She was born December 26, 1940 in La Fayette, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Hammock) Jackson. She married Raymond A. “Ray” Salisbury Sr. on April 27, 1957 in Toulon. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, her son, Ray (Jenny) Salisbury Jr. of Hampshire, IL, her two daughters, Linda Franks (John Simaytis) of Annawan and Brenda Short of Odessa, MO, brother, Elmer Jackson Jr. of Tennessee, two sisters, Marie Termote of Michigan and Elizabeth Wingler of Silvis, IL, two grandchildren, Tim Short and Kyle (Jessica) Salisbury, two great grandchildren, Adley Short and Sophia Salisbury, sister-in-law, Sharon Koch of California and several granddogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Juanita Catton and Edna Mae Dennis, her son-in-law, Gary Short and canine friend, Bandit.
Evajean worked as a certified nursing assistant for various hospitals. She and her husband did everything together. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR fan, who enjoyed the outdoors and traveling in their motorhome and working at various campgrounds across the United States, mostly in Tennessee. She also enjoyed going to casinos, playing Bingo and doing puzzles.
Cremation will be accorded and private family services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
