Evelyn E. Larson

KEWANEE – Evelyn E. Larson, 86, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Kewanee, died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor John Reside officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Senior Citizens Center or to the American Heart Association.

She was born July 2, 1935 in Kewanee, the 11th child of Charles and Ruby (Comstock) Asbell. She was raised and reared in Kewanee and graduated from Kewanee High School 1954. In 1955 she married Capt. James Stiles and he preceded her in death 7 years later in 1961. In 1964 she married Robert Larson, a marriage that lasted 49 years until his death in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Joseph John Larson in infancy and Daniel “Danny” Larson, four brothers, seven sisters, two nieces and four nephews. Survivors include her children; Karl (Sheila) Stiles of Sarasota, FL, Rene (Kenneth) Bosch of Mt. Morris, IL and David (Janene) Larson of Arlington, VA., five grandchildren; Sarah Thomson (beloved granddog Cookie), Skyler (Hannah Hutchinson) McCool and Francesca, Emilia and Christian Larson, great granddaughter, Aurora McCool and a sister, Sarah (Bubby) Corwin of Nokomis, FL. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn and Robert made their home in Kewanee raising their children and moved to Sarasota, FL following Bob’s retirement. Evelyn was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed the luxury of raising her children and taking them on vacations throughout the country their favorite being Hawaii and Rome, Italy.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the YMCA and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
