KEWANEE – Faye M. Bucy, 85, of Kewanee, died at 12:05 a.m., Sunday, June 29, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with her granddaughter Christina by her side.
She was born June 17, 1940 in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Francis and Frances (Scanlan) Manon. She married Charles R. “Chuck” Bucy on April 18, 1959 in Morrison, IL and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1983. Survivors include her four daughters; Deb (Mike) Kubinsky of Kewanee, Kimberly Frank of Hooppole, Michele (Wendell) Smith of Geneseo and Missy “Tim” Boswell of Kewanee, twelve grandchildren; Rachel, Bryan, Shawn, Mike, Jennifer, Amanda, Dustin, Andrew, Robert, Christina, Daniel and Kaitlynn and sixteen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert.
Faye graduated from Newman High School and attended Beauty School. She was owner and operator of Faye’s Plaster Palace and over the years had also worked at Hardees where she was known as the “biscuit lady”, worked at various bakeries and made countless wedding cakes. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and was an excellent baker and treat maker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 7 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Chris Haake. A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with a recitation of the rosary at 3:45 p.m. The burial will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Visitation School or to Saint John Paul II Parish.
