KEWANEE – Gary L. Lamb, 83, of Kewanee, died at 8:55 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Kewanee Care Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 13 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Chris Haake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation, the Parkinson’s Foundation or to Visitation Catholic School. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 21, 1940 in Kewanee, the son Floyd and Elaine (Callewyn) Lamb. He married Bonnie K. Bartman on July 15, 1966 in Danville, IL. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, his two sons, Paul (Lynne) Lamb of Kewanee and Kevin Lamb of Essex, IL, his daughter, Ann (Josh) McIntyre of Davenport, IA, a brother, Bill Lamb of Kewanee, five grandchildren; Molly, Carter and Rose Mary McIntyre, Kari Barker and William Peck and a great grandchild, Sami Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary graduated from Kewanee High School in 1958 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missel Crisis. He worked as a gas serviceman for Illinois Power until his retirement and also worked at Dew Fresh Market in Kewanee. He was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish. Gary was an avid gardener who was always working. Most of all, he loved his family.
