KEWANEE – Geoffrey K. Horack, 81, of Bradford, formerly of Kewanee, died at 1:27 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at UnityPoint Health – Proctor in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Stephen McGough officiating. . Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, November 12 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Encounter Church in Kewanee.
He was born January 1, 1940 in Peoria, IL, the son of Wayne and Helen (Hegwood) Horack. He married Joyce L. Currier on October 20, 1963 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2018. Survivors include his son, Geoffrey (Jeanie) Horack of Bradford, three brothers; Terry (Penny) Horack of Chillicothe, IL and Phillip and Steven Horack, both of Bradford, three grandchildren; Matthew, Andrew and Elizabeth and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeffrey in infancy, his nephew, Brad Horack and a sister-in-law, Janet Horack.
Geoffrey graduated from Bradford High School and proudly served his country for 6 years and drove a truck for the U.S. Army. He worked as a welder for the Kewanee Boiler Company for 39 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Encounter Church and enjoyed military history, watching Clint Eastwood movies, shooting and liked A&W Root Beer and was never known to turn down a piece of apple pie. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events.
