Glenn “Sid” Dean Yelm, 59, of Franklin, WI, formerly of Kewanee, died at 6:10 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024 at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI.
He was born July 18, 1964 in Kewanee, the son of Marion G. and Demitra M. (Kalis) Yelm. He married Kathy Bignell on September 9, 2021 after being together for 20 years. Survivors include his wife Kathy, his son, Duane (Darra) Shaw, his four daughters; Jessica Yelm, Rebecca Yelm, Demitra (Zach) Furr and Samantha Yelm, two stepsons, Brian (Laura) Bignell and Gary (Amanda) Bignell, stepdaughters, Julie (Jeff) Moeller and Samantha (Ben) Wickersham, his five brothers; Martin (Robin) Yelm), Brian (Janet) Yelm, Terry Yelm, Nicholas (Linda) Yelm and Fred Yelm, his three sisters; Shuree (Ken) Meeker, Kendra (Stephen) Taylor and Antoinette “Lynn” Peed, his twenty-three grandchildren; Faith, Hannah, Alycia, Elias, Christian, Brookelynne, Isabelle, Benjamin, Jared, Emily, Kelsey, Armanda, Arminia, Astrella, Amilo, , Hailey, Emily, Amie, Lucy, Violet, Adam, Alex and Gabriel and a great granddaughter, Emilia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Red and De, paternal grandparents, Marion E. and Genevieve (Stoner) Yelm, maternal grandparents, Harry Kalis Frances Johnson, granddaughter, Ariana, a brother-in-law, William Peed, great nephew, Ethen Peed and Uncle Charlie “Goatman”.
Glenn “Sid” was a simple man. He attended Kewanee High School and had worked as mechanic before becoming disabled. He enjoyed listening to music and watching sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. He especially liked to play HD poker online and he very much cherished his time with his grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee with Rev. Martin Gutzmer officiating. Following the ceremony family and friends are invited to gather at the Northeast Park Shelter House for food and Celebration of Life.
