KEWANEE – Howard G. Moore, 90, of Kewanee, died at 5:48 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home.
Cremation will be accorded and graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9 at Mineral Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. A Celebration of Life will follow from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Flemish American Club. Memorials may be directed to the Howard Moore Memorial Fund. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born December 29, 1930 in Kewanee, the son of Eli Moore and Jane (Bevins) Ouart and his step-father, Arnold Ouart. He married Nancy H. Deskin on October 7, 1956 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2013. Survivors include his son, David (Polly) Moore, of Kewanee, his three daughters; Brenda (Brian) Woods and Donna (Stan) Stenos, both of Kewanee and Wendy Moore of Indiana, a daughter-in-law, Angel Moore, two sisters, Dolly VanWassenhove and Janet Frail, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Terry Moore and Gary Moore in infancy, a daughter, Joanna Witte, three brothers; Richard, Russell and Robert and a sister, Barb Briggs.
Howard attended Kewanee schools and served his country in the U.S. Army from January of 1952 to January of 1954. He was a fireman for the Kewanee Community Fire Department for 27 years and was Fire Chief for 22½ of those years. He had also farmed, worked at the Walworth Company and drove a school bus for the Kewanee School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and garden and especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
