ANDALUSIA – James E. Golden, 83, of Andalusia, formerly of Kewanee, died at 11:59 p.m., Friday December 15, 2023, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
He was born September 16, 1940, in Kewanee, the son of Louis and Jennie (Hadsall) Golden. He married Glee Green on December 7, 1962, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2008. He later married Pat Poppy on January 2, 2010, and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2018. Survivors include his daughter, Tracee Keefer, three stepchildren; Kevin (Mindy) Poppy, Ken (Diane) Poppy and Keith (Heath) Poppy, three grandchildren; Dillon, Bryce and Blake, several step-grandchildren, his sister, Judy (Willard) Harlan and two nieces and a nephew; Jodee, Mindy and Mike. He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lois Mae (Jim) Hulslander and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Ina) Golden and Ronald (Mildred) Golden.
Jim graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1958 and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had worked as an assembler for International Harvester/Case New Holland until his retirement. He had attended Jerry Lind Chapel in Andover and the Andalusia Community Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. William Gluck officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
