James M. Jones

ANNAWAN – James M. “J.J.” Jones, 49, of Annawan, died Monday, July 24, 2023 in Kewanee.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Terry Lancaster officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27 at the funeral home. The family asks that you wear your favorite Cubs attire. Cremation will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be directed to the family for an educational fund for his children.

He was born May 22, 1974 in Normal, IL, the son of Marshall and Diane (Wheeler) Jones. He married Crystal Fairbanks on May 19, 2007 in Mineral, IL. Survivors include his wife of Annawan, his three children; James M. Jones III, Tyra L. Jones and Tiana M. Jones, all of Annawan, his father, Marhsall Jones (fiancé Catherine Hughes) of Kewanee and his siblings, Michelle (Cory) Smith and Michael (Megan) Jones, both of Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his mother.

J.J. graduated from Kewanee High School in 1992 and obtained his master’s in political science. He had worked in sales for the Kewanee radio station. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed dancing and bowling.
