KEWANEE – James L. Nuding, 91, of Kewanee, died at 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Allure of Prophetstown.
He was born February 17, 1933 in Kewanee, the son of Ralph and Anna (Bengston) Nuding. He married Bonnie L. Newman on September 18, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, his son, Brad (Lonna) Nuding of Kewanee, his daughter, Debbie (Lee) Gasper of Louisiana, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald “Jerry” Nuding.
James graduated from Kewanee High School in 1950 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a switching technician for GTE until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed dirt track racing, boating, camping, farming and wintering in Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1 at Faith Lutheran Church in Kewanee with Pastor Paul Weber officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. The burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church.
