KEWANEE – James D. Titlow, 87, of Kewanee, passed away at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, August 22, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Kevin Drane officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home with Masonic rites being conducted at 8:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee.
James was born October 28, 1933 in Wethersfield Twp., Henry County, IL, the son of Theodore G. and Ida (Jensen) Titlow. He married Carol M. “Sue” Anderson on November 26, 1960 in Kewanee. She survives, as do two sons, James (Lisa) Titlow of Bloomington, IL and Daniel (Sarah) Titlow of Kewanee, and daughter Amy (Jason) Lindbom of Lexington, IL, six grandchildren, Alex (Tiffany) Titlow of Mapleton, IL, Cameron Titlow of Dayton, OH, Andrew (Sydney) Titlow of Kewanee, Brock Titlow of Syracuse, NY, and Chloe and Hadley Lindbom, both of Lexington, IL and three great-grandsons Everett Titlow, Dawson Titlow, and Walker Titlow. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Jack Titlow, and sisters Yvonne, Fran, Dorothy, and Darlene.
James graduated from LaFayette High School in 1951 and from Black Hawk East College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 as a heavy equipment operator in France. He worked as an Inventory Planner for Compaction America until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee and the Kewanee Masonic Lodge AF & AM 157 serving as a Past Master. He was a Chicago White Sox fan and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, spending time with his family, and was on the Wethersfield High School Football Chain Gang for many years.
