James Toms Obituary

KEWANEE – James Leon Toms, 65, of Kewanee, died at 8:18 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024 at his home.

He was born August 20, 1958 in Henderson, NV, the son of Patrick and Lora (Moore) Toms. Survivors include his two sons, Mark Toms and Patrick Toms, both of Kewanee, his two daughters, Hope Toms and Jami Toms, both of Kewanee and two brothers, Tim Toms and Dave Toms. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary.

James graduated from Fort Scott High School in Fort Scott, KS. He worked as a welder for Hackney. He enjoyed fishing and grilling and had an appreciation for old cars. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events and was usually the loudest from in the bleachers.

Cremation will be accorded and no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to his family. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
