KEWANEE - James A. “Jim” Schoals, 69, of Kewanee, died at 12:02 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his home.
Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10 at the Chestnut Room at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
He was born July 30, 1953 in Owosso, MI, the son of Stanley D. and Ilah A. (Foland) Schoals. Survivors include his significant other, Debra Rusk, his two children, Christopher Schoals and Christina Tillman, eight step-children; Coessa, Jason, Travis, Rhonda and Twyla Rusk, Fred Teeslink, Candi Ward and Brandi Teeslink, a brother, Randy Schoals, twenty-five grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren a niece and nephew, Laurie and Clifford Schafer and two great nieces. He was also survived by Chet Kemerling whom he considered a son and Chet’s daughter, Caitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Stanley Schoals, sister, Janice Stoddard, step-daughter, Christine Rusk and step-grandson, Raymond Ward.
Jim was restaurant manager at Kelly Seafood in Florida and had also worked at Wolverine Worldwide Shoe Store before going on disability and being a stay-at-home father. He loved hanging with his best buddy and sidekick, Eliana Rusk as well as his Monster Truck adventures with his best girl, Thalia Padilla. He also enjoyed music from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s and motorcycles. But most of all he enjoyed the time with his family and grandchildren.
