Jamie Theesfeld Obituary

Jamie Theesfeld, 67, of Cameron IL, passed away peacefully at home after a short fight with cancer on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Cremation will be accorded with a private family graveside service to be held at a later date.

He was born on February 3, 1956 in Kewanee, IL, one of triplets born to Norman and Evelyn (Sandberg) Theesfeld. Survivors include brother Jim (Lynette) Theesfeld of Moline, IL, sister Peggy (Theesfeld) Gooch of Cameron, IL, and an older brother Phil Theesfeld of Largo FL and Sandy Theesfeld of Kewanee, IL and nieces and nephews, Joe (Nichole Parsons), Jenna (Lou) Gonzales, Kylie Jo (Doug) Mitchell, and Kraig. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Jeffrey Theesfeld, and a brother-in-law Marshall Gooch.

Jamie graduated from Galva High School in 1974. He studied at both Black Hawk College in Moline, IL and Black East College in Kewanee, IL. He was employed by the Galva Park District in the maintenance department for 10 years, as a superintendent for 1 year, and served several terms on the park board of commissioners. He was a reporter/photographer for the Galva News for over 30 years. He was also employed by Galva School District 224 as Jr. High 7th grade boys’ basketball coach for over 30 years. Jamie was inducted into the Galva Wall of Fame as a "long term friend of the program and mentor of hundreds of students and athletes". He was very proud of that accomplishment.

He was a current member of the Galesburg Methodist Church and was a former member of Grace United Methodist and the Congregational churches in Galva, IL. Jamie loved watching the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Illinois Fighting Illini.  He loved his cats and walking his sister's dog. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
