Jan D. Eisenbarth

Jan David Eisenbarth, 78, of Kewanee, Illinois, died surrounded by love at his home on September 11, 2025.

Some people go through life waiting for the perfect cards. Jan simply played the hand he was dealt, and he played it well.

Born on July 4, 1947, Jan was a firecracker from the start: he was loud, bold, and mischievous enough to keep everyone on their toes.  He loved fun the way most people love air, and his favorite times were spent playing games and laughing with his family and friends. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.

Jan is survived by the love of his life, his constant supporter, and his best friend, his wife Jackie; his daughter Jill (Kyle) Eisenbarth Kuepker; Jackie’s children who he helped raise as his own: Phil (Angie) Femali; Joe Femali; and Tracy Pettitt Sharp; his grandchildren: Ella and Ryan Kuepker; Joe and Kate Femali; Maddie (Nick) Femali Anderson; Tori (Kaleb) Femali Smith; great-grandchildren Ophelia Anderson and Weston Smith;  his sister Jean (Eisenbarth) Burns; his brother Jim (Margie) Eisenbarth; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Bessie Eisenbarth, brothers Jack, Jerry, and Joe, brother-in-law Robert Burns, and sister-in-law Carolyn Eisenbarth.

Jan also leaves behind stories – so many stories – that will keep us laughing, crying, and shaking our heads for years to come. And that’s exactly how he'd want it.

Cremation has been accorded; there will be no services. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
