Jane F. Boswell

Jane Frances Boswell, 80, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Lutheran Hillside Village.

She was born August 10, 1943 in Kewanee to Forrest P. and Clara M. (Fortman) Boswell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Osborne; and one brother-in-law, William Osborne.

Surviving are her brother, David (Sara) Boswell of Kewanee; four nephews, Michael (Rachel) Osborne of Morton, Jeffrey (Cara) Boswell of Southlake, Texas, Thomas (Lannie) Boswell of Lombard and Mark (Kathryn) Boswell of Long Grove; great niece and nephew, Aaron and Grace Osborne; and great nieces, Lauren and Allison Boswell and Jolie and Emmie Boswell. Jane also leaves behind an extensive “Peoria Family” of wonderful friends and associates.

Jane was a 1961 graduate of Kewanee High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in 1965 and her Master’s degree in 1970, both from Bradley University. Post Graduate studies were completed at the University of Illinois, ISU and NIU.

Jane began as a speech pathologist, transitioning to working as a Learning Disabilities Resource Teacher for Peoria Public Schools from 1965 to 1998, retiring in 1998 after over 30 years of service. She served many schools including Lindbergh, Woodrow Wilson, Mark Bills, Harrison, Washington, Sipp, Whittier and the Diagnostic Learning Center. Jane touched the lives of many special students who continue to give her credit for their adult success and happiness.

She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Peoria.

She had belonged to the CIBAC and OLLI, both at Bradley University, was a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association, and the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children.

Her funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Peoria. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church or to the Lutheran Hillside Village.
