Jane M. VanDeVelde

KEWANEE - Jane M. VanDeVelde, 65, of Kewanee, died at 4:35 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Kewanee Care Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 6th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Flemish American Club. Casual attire is requested. Memorials may be directed to the Jane VanDeVelde Memorial Fund. Rux Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born September 1, 1953 in Rock Island, the daughter of George and Ruth (Hauerwas) VanDenBreen. She married Paul VanDeVelde on February 4, 2000. He survives as do her children, Brandon (Meagan) Robbins of Kewanee, Bryce (Angie Smith) Robbins of Kewanee, Kathryn Jackson (Rafael Delgado) of Chicago, Cameron Robbins of Rock Island and Tessa Robbins (Timothy Griffin) of Kewanee and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jane graduated from Rock Island High School in 1971. She had worked in the kitchen at Kewanee High School starting in 1997 and had worked there for 22 years. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and working in the cafeteria at KHS especially with the special education students and the summer lunch program. She also enjoyed painting and crafting, was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan and had a special passion for her pets. She also enjoyed watching bald eagles and collecting bald eagle statues and memorabilia.
