Janet K. Irvine, 79, of Altona, died at 2:48 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born on June 18, 1946 in Rochelle, IL, the daughter of Sherman Harold and Vivian Mrytle (Knapp) Brickey. Survivors include her significant other, Patrick Barton of Altona, her three children; David Irvine of Galesburg, Mary Irvine of Galva and Angie (Bill) Brunk of Metamora and two grandchildren, Kari and Julie. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dale Brickey and Donnie in infancy and two sisters, Marge Reed and Joyce in infancy.
Janet worked as a certified nursing assistant at Leisure Hills Nursing Home in Kewanee. She played piano and keyboard for the band Midnight Express and had a love for animals. Janet especially loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.
A visitation for Janet will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Altona with Pastor Keith Thomas officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Knox County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
