Janette M. Waleszonia

GALESBURG – Janette Marie Waleszonia, 68, of Galesburg, died Sunday, April 3, 2022 at her home.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14 at Pleasant View Cemetery with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. A gathering will follow at the Kewanee American Legion and all family and friends are invited. Memorials may be directed to her family c/o John Waleszonia or Kathleen Johnson to help cover the cost of the burial. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

Janette was born May 10, 1953 in Kewanee, the daughter of Harold Eugene and Margarete (Dwyer) Brown. Survivors include her three children; Eric (Chatton Harris-Purifoy) of Rockford, John Jr. (Jamie Nielson) of Davenport, IA and Megan DeCrane of Silvis, two sisters, Kathleen M. Johnson of Galesburg and Mary Jean Kelly of Neponset and three grandchildren that she adored, Alexander, Axel and Aiden, all of Silvis.

She graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1971 and following high school attended Black Hawk East College where she received her associates degree in science. Janette discovered after college that she enjoyed working with people and decided to work at Kewanee Hospital in the cafeteria. After moving to Galesburg, she got a job at Galesburg High School working with young children and serving them in the cafeteria.

Janette was a loving daughter, sister and a proud grandma. She always worked to help her children so that they could accomplish their dreams. She had a sense of humor which was enjoyed by her family and especially her nephew, Larry. She will be welcomed by many family members in heaven, especially her parents, her niece, Tammy L. (Kelly) Baughman and her nephew, Major Larry E. Johnson. No Sunday crossword or cup of coffee will ever be the same without her wisdom and laughs. We truly appreciate all the love and support we received the last weeks of Janette’s life. God Bless
