KEWANEE – Janice E. Warner, 85, of Kewanee, died at 4:19 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her home.
Cremation will be accorded and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m., Thursday at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with recitation of the rosary at 9:15 a.m. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
She was born December 16, 1937 in Kewanee, the daughter of Peter P. and Ruth G. (Norbo) Van Vooren. She married Jerry A. Warner Sr. on November 29, 1958 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2019. Survivors include her children; Jerry (Debi) Warner of Kewanee, Jamie Warner of Kewanee, Julie Warner of Kewanee, Joe (Teri) Warner of Kewanee and Jon Warner of Kewanee, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gary Van Vooren, a sister, Ruth Garrigan, her daughter, Jill Warner-Goulding and her son, Jeff Warner.
Janice graduated from Kewanee High School in 1955 and completed her nurse’s training through the St. Francis School of Nursing in Kewanee. She worked several nursing positions in the area from 1977-2008 including home care, nursing homes and skilled nursing. She also sold real estate for 25 years. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed helping her husband, Jerry with his remodeling projects and going to casinos and the riverboat and taking trips to Las Vegas. Most of all, she especially enjoyed raising her seven children and spending time with her family.
