Janice "Jan" Bennett

KEWANEE - Janice "Jan" Bennett, 82, of Kewanee, died at 12:45 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2023 at her home.

A visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Private inurnment with the family will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed in her name for a memorial to be established.

She was born February 20, 1941 in Kewanee, the daughter of Henry “Hank” and Ruth (Calcutt) VanHecker. She married Hazen “Red” Bennett on September 19, 1974 in Cambridge and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1993. Survivors include her three children; Debbie Ramsey, George LaFollette and Matthew LaFollette, all of Kewanee, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Cathy Goodbar and her brother, Henry.

Jan graduated from Kewanee High School in 1958 and had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the area and had also done home care. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
