WYOMING – Jeffrey David “Jeff” Peterson, 48, of Wyoming, IL, died at 6:25 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 20 at Princeville Township Cemetery in Princeville, IL. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to his family.
He was born February 1, 1975 in Peoria, the son of Ronald and June (Cain) Peterson. Survivors include his parents of Wyoming, his two brothers, Ethan Peterson of Wyoming and Matt (Jen) Peterson of Itasca, IL, his sister, Rebecca Heck of Kewanee, ten nieces and nephews; Jacob, Allie, Nate, Andy, Ethel, Lexy, Simon, Benjamin, Matthew Jr. and Michael, a great niece and nephew, Lila and Chad Jr. and his special friend, Bob Heck. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, two brothers in infancy, Nathanial and Jacob, a sister, Ginger and two nephews, Zachary and Daniel.
Jeff graduated from Kewanee High School Special Education where he participated in both summer and winter special Olympics, earning several medals and awards. He was a high scoring member of the KHS Cougars team where he made the winning shot in a basketball game vs. Chicago. He had also worked at Bob Evans Restaurant. He was a member of the Princeville Presbyterian Church and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and enjoyed following NASCAR and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed traveling and eating, especially spaghetti, pizza and ice cream.
Most of all he loved and enjoyed his greatest passion, his music. His country and Christian praise music is what brought him closest to his greatest love, his love for Jesus. Jeff was the most humble, selfless man whom never, ever, knew a stranger. Who always, put others first.
