Jennifer Clark Obituary

WYOMING – Jennifer L. Clark, 68, of Wyoming, passed away at 2:23 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was comfortable, peaceful and able to see her entire family before she died.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Cpt. Sarah Eddy of The Salvation Army providing the ceremonial tribute and remembrance. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. She will be laid to eternal rest close to several family members.

She was born March 20, 1953 in Carthage, IL, the youngest child of Grover G. and Betty Lorraine (Sall) Jackson. Almost forty-five years ago, she married Richard “Dick” Clark on a beautiful spring day on May 15, 1976, at Martin’s Lodge in LaFayette, IL. They resided and raised their family in Galva, Toulon and Wyoming, IL.  Survivors include her husband of Wyoming, her children; Laura Clark of Peoria, Marcia Clark of Wyoming, Stephanie (Derek) Waldschmidt of Chillicothe and Lucas (Amanda Dunn) Clark of Peoria, 2 bonus-children, Michelle Kelly and Jamie Morss, both of Peoria, a brother, Daren Sall of Cambridge, a sister-in-law, Barb Jackson of Bushnell, a sister-in-law, Kathy Clark of Moline, ten grandchildren; Zachary, Jenna, Colton, Emma, Jackson, Cooper, Caleb, Carly, Briggs and Amelia, two great grandchildren, Spencer and Scarlette.  She also had several half-sisters and a half-brother on her father’s side. She had several fond memories of her aunts, uncles and cousins growing up and always wished she could spend more time with her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and brother-in-law, Karen “Sue” and Les “Butch” Morss, one brother, Dennis Jackson, and her mother-in-law, Annabelle Clark.

Jennifer attended Galva schools and in her early years attended Four Square Church in Galva. Over the years she held a variety of exciting jobs, most recently, she had worked at L.R. Nelson before her health forced her to retire.  However, her favorite “job” was wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dedicated to her family.  She was a champion Uno player and an avid animal lover.  Her dream was to move to the country and open an animal rescue sanctuary.  She loved sitting in her kitchen with Dick looking out the window watching the birds, especially cardinals.  Cardinals were her favorite – bird and baseball team.  She loved her Cardinals.  She also enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, genealogy and looking for hawks and eagles and taking photos of landscapes and scenery, before camera phones – they confused her. Hallmark movies brought her much joy.  Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, cookouts, birthday parties, holiday celebrations, concerts, baseball games, dance recitals – she always tried her best to be there.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St Jude will always hold a special place in the family’s collective heart for taking care of Marcia when she was sick and offering hope to the family through the tough times.

On Tuesday, after the funeral services, a Celebration of Life will be held at The Catalpa Grove, in Toulon, IL – a place that holds many happy memories from long ago for Jennie and Dick.
