Joan Doss

CAMBRIDGE - Joan Doss, 85, of rural Cambridge, died peacefully at 11:20 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Betty’s Garden Memory Care in Kewanee.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Betty’s Garden Memory Care or to Abilities Plus. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.

She was born July 3, 1935 in Geneseo, the daughter of Daniel and Gertha (Chrisman) Rogers. She married Kyle Lynn Doss on September 15, 1954 in Geneseo and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Robert, Harold, Ray and Betty. Joan is survived by her daughters, Debra (Jerry) Gibson of Dahinda, Susan (Skip) Turnbull of Toulon, Christine (Mike) Wexell of Galva, Jane (Rich) Bell of Kewanee and Nancy (Mark) DeFauw of Atkinson, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joan graduated from Geneseo High School in 1954. She was a homemaker and had worked alongside her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed watching birds, especially Cardinals, gardening, going for coffee with her friends but especially loved babysitting and sharing the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
